Moreover, his multidisciplinary approach is evident through his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Energy Management from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), which integrates legal acumen with business strategy in addressing legal challenges within the energy sector.

He completed his pupillage at Messrs Zaid Ibrahim & Co., Kuala Lumpur, under the Islamic Banking & Finance Department and was called to the Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor in the High Court of Malaya. He practised at Messrs Deol & Gill as a Legal Associate, handling corporate legal matters, corporate conveyancing, and corporate secretarial tasks for Khazanah subsidiaries such as Silterra Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Atlantic Quantum Sdn Bhd. Subsequently, he served as a Legal Executive for the oil and gas contractor PBJV Group Sdn Bhd before pursuing his PhD.

As a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute (CGI), holding designations as a Chartered Secretary (CS) and Chartered Governance Professional (CGP), Dr Wan Zulhafiz is at the forefront of governance best practices, enriching his legal insights with principles of effective governance.
